- As an office policy we require a chaperone be present for pelvic examinations with your visits to ensure both patient and provider comfort, safety, privacy and security during these examinations and is in accordance with ACOG recommendations. There is a new procedure code for pelvic examination with a chaperone that may be billed out with certain visits. Many insurances are not covering this code that is legally required to be billed out by CMS and placing the cost onto patient responsibility. We are required to use this code beginning January 1st, 2024.
